Here is a tutorial that allows you to prepare and perform the pose for the best result.
1. Work environment
Prepare your work environment by:
- placing a protection on the laying table to protect the fairing during handling
- having nearby a squeegee with felt (available here ) and rags
- a glass cleaner
- a Brake Cleaner type degreaser
- hair dryer or heat gun
- a pin
- a cutter
The kit, the fairing and the place of installation must be at 15°C minimum (20°C ideally) to allow good adhesion.
2. Pose
- Start the installation with the small stickers to understand the adhesion and the installation technique
- Identify the place where the sticker will be placed on the fairing,
- Clean the surface with the glass cleaner (especially fairing dust)
- Degrease the surface with Brake Cleaner
- Peel off the sticker from the kit and place it without pressure in the place provided on the fairing,
- Adjust the positioning if necessary, the sticker can be peeled off without deformation if it has not been subjected to pressure during installation,
- If the shape is complex, heat the sticker a little (hair dryer or heat gun set to a low temperature) to make it adopt the shape,
/!\ The sticker can be moderately deformed to adopt the shape. The more the sticker is deformed, the more the density of the glue decreases and therefore the adhesion of the sticker also.
- Apply pressure on the sticker to permanently fix it from the center to the edges using the squeegee,
- The sticker is anti-bubble. Nevertheless it can happen that a bubble appears. Using a pin, make a small hole in the center of the bubble and smooth it around the hole with the squeegee.
The kit is designed from brand of track fairings widely distributed on the market (S2, Racing composite, ...). However, from one fairing manufacturer to another, the size can vary significantly. An adjustment of the dimension of a part of a sticker may be necessary.
To do this, reposition the sticker in its location on the kit and adjust it using the cutter.
